Was a good hike in the winter bring good water proof shoes and pants. Also spike's would come in handy

A cool stop on your way to the Great Western Trail. The trail is a bit overgrown, but nothing too serious. The shack itself is unimpressive.

Ran out of water at the top and was very thirsty on the way down. Bring a lot of water and drink it slowly. Also you'll get to a good chunk of the trail where it's really overgrown and then it levels out to the top of a ridge. Dont think it's on the next ridge or you'll get lost. Follow the trail and it's just down a little to the south

Got lost at the fork. Took a left like the reviews said to but still got lost. Darkness fell and I decided sleep was the best option. This was 3 years ago. Still lost. But hey. Great scenery. ud83dudc4d

It’s a grueling hike from the Adams Canyon Trailhead to the cabin. It’s steep and very few places where the trail flattened out for a small rest. Most of the time is hiking up and up. The trail gets very narrow and is mostly overgrown, so any bare skin on your legs will take a thrashing.nnThe cabin itself is nothing special. It’s small and mostly run down. I’m sure it’s fine for a hunting shelter, but it’s not worth the trip for the cabin itself.nnHowever...the views of the valley and surrounding canyons make this hike worth the effort. Especially in the evening at sunset. It’s also a sparsely traveled trail, which is a nice break from the crowds of the Adams Canyon trail. In short, this hike is about the journey, not the destination.
