The teachers are very effective, work well with my children and have always been very communicative with any issues we have had. I love Muir Elementary! (And now that they have air conditioning, I can give it that 5th star ;)

The parent community is great and supportive. The teachers are good. They care and are invested in the welfare of the children. The administration is motivated to do their best for the school and kids.

I came to this school 3 years ago and my brother and two sister go there and my mom works there but I have to say that I really liked this school but at the same time i didn't I really only had one problem is the music teacher I cant really remember what she did but my younger siblings say that she is teaching them science more than music I don't know but other than that I really liked this school and lots of good kids and teachers and staff

I attended my last year of school here starting from 2nd grade about 3 years ago, I am now in 9th grade. The school was fine but a couple of the staff were not. My first complaint would have to be the music teacher who is probably the worst music teacher I have ever interacted with. She seemed to be very biased towards students because they knew more about music more than others. I was a student who did not care for this class merely because she was not a good teacher, I’ve also been told that she told my parent one day during a parent teacher conference that she (my mother) “should keep an eye on him, he might have depression and you don’t want his violence to get out of control” as if I were to be the kind of student who would bring a weapon to school or do drugs or something awful that I would never even think of doing. What’s even worse is that no, it’s not me that’s “musically challenged” because I in fact play 5 different instruments 4 being clarinet, oboe, saxophone, and my main instrument, bassoon (which happens to be a very difficult instrument to play) and also piano. I’m also going to be in an honors band with my bassoon. All this is a result of not only my ancestors being very good musicians, but my band teacher is a very good teacher, definitely will be one of my favorite if not the favorite teachers in my life. I also must complain about the principal. I only had her for 2 or 3 years and not too much changed when she replaced the old principal, but my younger sister and brother are attending this school right now and I’ve heard some pretty bad things about her. For starters, the principal has made multiple rules that are quite questionable such as, you can’t pick up snow on the ground, you can’t make any clubs because she says that it makes people feel left out, you’re not allowed to call anyone your best friend because it’ll make someone feel bad, you have to wear gloves if you sled on the water softener salt bags (I’m surprised they haven’t banned sledding yet), you can’t stand up during lunch, you can’t be loud at lunch not to mention that today they said that if any of the 6th graders (the grade that my sister is in) talked during lunch then they would have to stay for they’re recess to clean the lunchroom, they’re not allowed to go to the bathroom during recess because the staff thinks that they’re trying to stay inside to warm up, they’re not allowed to make anything out of snow, and that’s just what I’ve gathered from what my brother and sister can remember.

I currently go to this school and it is just awful, our principal is just the worst and her rules are ridiculous. Just a few days ago she gathered just the sixth grade together and told us that we were having a silent lunch, (because apparently lunch can be too loud) and that if anyone were to talk we would have to stay in and clean the tables. Also a few weeks before this she gathered just the girls in sixth grade that were in the Chinese immersion and told us that we're not allowed to make clubs, and that she keeps getting complaints from parents, and other dumb things like that. The teachers here are pretty great and also our new vice principal, (which keeps getting replaced)but the music teacher is the worst staff member in the school next to the principal, you can just tell that she hates the boys in our class, they barely do anything wrong and she still gets mad at them! During winter we're pretty much not allowed to go inside during recess like at all, we also are not allowed to pick up snow off the ground. there are many other dumb rules that the principal keeps making and I'm absolutely sick of it. Though this is my last year at muir I still hope our principal is fired quickly, I feel bad for future and current students here who have to deal with all this.
