Spudnut Festival (09/07/2020)
Redman Campground, in Salt Lake’s Big Cotton Wood Canyon, is a great place to camp with your family. Just minutes from the city, temperatures run 10 to 15 degrees cooler than the Salt Lake Valley. Even in August the evenings can get cool (50s or 60s), so pack a light jacket and a blanket for sleeping.nnEach campsite has a large table and a fire pit. Plenty of wood available to burn if you bring your own saw, axe or hatchet. These campsites are designed more for camping in tents than for trailers.nnCampsite #35 is our favorite because it is shaded by the trees almost all day and has lots of clear space for tents, hammocks and lounging. It is a double campsite, made for 2 families, and carries a double fee. Any more than 2 vehicles incur an fee of $9. Another reason we like this campsite is it is close to restrooms with flush toilets. Some of the toilet facilities in Redman Campground are the old fashioned outhouse style.nnNO DOGS are allowed in Big Cottonwood Canyon because its part of the watershed for the Salt Lake valley. This means you are not to touch or play in any streams or waterways. No hands or feet in the water.

As campground go this one is great. You feel like you are very secluded because the sites are spread apart. The campground is clean and there is plenty of space for the kids to roam. The hosts are fine. They were friendly which is very, very, very, very uncommon. We paid for a double site which also means the fee was double. We can have up to 16 people in the site but they only allow 2 cars...for 16 people... Dumb!

I love the automatic lights in the bathrooms. The fresh water spouts tasted pretty good in my opinion. I love how the flats are spaced out from each other where other campsites tend to put as many as they can. The roads are fun to drive around on. And there are a ton of campsites.

Love this campground! The sites are not on top of each other. We had a nice secluded spot with a stream running through. Good sleeping!! Will be a regular spot for us whenever we come into Big Cottonwood.

Beautiful location and usually our go-to, but will not be returning after tonight’s experience. We booked a spot for Father’s Day evening and because of personal problems couldn’t stay the night and had to pack up at about 10pm. Everything was great until the camp hosts came over to the site at 10:30 and rudely started asking about why we had two cars at the site. We explained that there are no mentions of this being an issue when you book the site, and that there was nobody at the booth to pay For the second car when we got to the site. They have never made ya pay for extra cars in the past and had no idea that we had to. We also mentioned that we were literally just leaving, and had already spent the full $35 for a site we wouldn’t even be spending the night at. They continued to very rudely say comments to members of our group about how we need to mind our own business. Very unprofessional, poor customer service. They also had no change when we tried to pay with a $10 bill. From the second the cranky old bats drove over to our site flashing bright headlights (reminder it was 10:30pm) to the way they demanded for money, and the rude remarks, we will unfortunately not be returning. Don’t waste your time unless you like overpaying for poor customer service. Very sad to have left on such a bitter note but the whole ordeal ended Father’s Day negatively and upset.ud83dudd95ud83cudffc
