Fourth of July Trailhead

This place was so beautiful! My first time there and I loved it. The colors of the leaves were wonderful, but I do believe we came a weekend late. There was a lot people heading up when we were coming down that made it hard to pass through because the road is so small. But besides that it was worth it.

Amazing place to see the fall leaves but you have to find the right time. The dirt road down to the campground is a bit rough so make sure you car can handle it. Hike itself is a bit of work going up in the beginning but not too bad. Trail is easy to walk on and mostly dirt.

Not a lot of color, except for the drone picture we saw later on the news! Plus for the middle of the week there were a lot of people up there! And the road is unpaved (they were grating the road) for 7 miles, so it can be rough going up and back. I guess there must be more of a secret to the place then I know about. Because for the number of cars that were up there - it must be a popular place to go!

Absolutely Beautiful Fall Foliage. (Check Out Pictures). 5-Star for the View 4-Star overall because once again, another beyond overused area during this time of COVID-19. This area however was cleaner due to the general public doing so. If you plan on coming here just know to leave about 30 minutes sooner to give yourself time once you get to the entrance to head into the mountains.

This campground and picnic area has the largest concentration of Rocky Mountain Maples in the state. If you can catch them at peak it is truly an amazing experience.
