Lotus Salon

Today, I did a thing that I've always said I would never do. I'm known for my insanely long hair. It's always been 'me', and hair has never been 'just hair' to me. It's a part of me, an extension of myself, and cutting it always left me in tears. I cut it short only once in my life and I hated it. But it was chopped off, not styled, and I knew nothing about hair so I didn't go to a proper salon or ask for a specific style.nnThis time, I did everything right. This was a very hard decision because I have attachment issues, any kind of change sends my anxiety spiraling, and my hair is sacred to me. I've been thinking about it for a while, went back and forth over it. I was getting sick of it and I knew I needed a big change.nnI've been carrying around this heavy weight of depression and other negative emotions for so long due to my mom's death, and it hit me out of the blue one day a few weeks ago that my hair was also carrying this energy. The darker, dyed hair has been around since before my mom passed 3 years ago, and has been absorbing everything since.nnAs soon as I realized what my hair was holding onto, I knew I had to cut it off. My mom will always be part of me, but I needed to cut that energy loose or else I would keep holding onto it. And I explained all of this to Karen, the amazing woman who cut my hair today.nnAnd you know what? I didn't cry (during, anyway; I definitely cried in the parking lot before I went in ud83dude02). I'm in love with it! I might even go shorter, soon. Who knows. Whatever happens, I know that I did this for myself and I already feel a million times lighter.nnKaren was so unbelievably helpful, understanding, friendly, and she listened to me. She didn't treat me like just another customer, she treated me with professionalism and heart, something you don't see often. That's hard to find. Shaina was who I emailed to ask for an appointment. I explained my situation in fewer words and my anxiety about cutting my hair, with an apology for over sharing. She recommended Karen, and was so sweet with her response.nnI highly recommend this salon. I can't say enough good things about them.

I cannot say enough good things about this place! I had a horrible color at another salon and Shaina came to the rescue. She was amazing. I couldn’t be happier. She fixed my color and was great to chat with and was so understanding. 10/10 would recommend

Shaina is AMAZING!! I have been having Shaina as my stylist since she was at the W Salon and then I followed her when she opened her own Salon. The entire staff are very friendly and talented. There is onsite parking available, I have very difficult Naturally Curly Hair...and after getting my first Deva Cut with Shaina I never looked back. I use to HATE my curls, now I embrace them. She knows how to cut and color my 'type' of hair and has educated me on products that will work best! Never have I been disappointed! Lotus Salon and the entire staff have always exceeded my expectations..not to mention pricing is extremely fair!

THE BEST! I've been coming here since they first opened for hair cut and color and I've never left disappointed. The entire staff is talented and friendly. I've been going to Karen for over 7 years (back when she was at the W salon) and she is amazing. She always does exactly what I want, and she'll give suggestions about color choices or cuts to make sure I look great. I have natural dark brown hair and she's made me look like a natural blond. She takes the time to make sure it comes out right. They also have a wizard doing eyelash extensions, seriously, they look so good it has to be magic. I moved to NH a year ago and I still make the trip down every other month. I will never go anywhere else.
