My son has been taking karate since a week after his 5th birthday and he’s now 7 1/2. This is not about just punching, kicking, and self defense as his instructor reminds us of often. It’s about teaching life lessons and life skills, how to be a better person, grow up to be strong mentally and physically, how to steer clear of trouble and trouble won’t find you, how to be respectful and responsible and make good choices all the time . As a parent I observe my son in class and I take notes on what’s being said. It is empowering to listen to and we leave class feeling inspired and strong. I see changes in my son now that I can contribute to karate and his incredible instructor Mr. Russo. My son wants to be like him and be a black belt like him. These instructors are also role models for kids and they may not even realize it yet. They aren’t only teachers they are people that these kids look up to because of how they are. Quitting is not an option for us. He needs this martial arts school and I’m so happy we are part of the Mastery family.
Invest in your kids future!!!! Your child will learn karate but more importantly they will learn much needed life skills. Mr.Russo and his staff are awesome. TRY IT!!!! I was so impressed watching my kids in class that I joined them after a couple of weeks. Here you'll see more experienced students helping less experienced students. You'll hear the instructor ask if that was your best. Then he asks for it to be a little bit better. This is a community where people can grow.
My son loves being part of this class. He looks up to his instructor with genuine admiration and respect and works hard because of it.nI love that the focus this early is as much on their emotional/maturity growth as it is on the physical. Mr. Russo uses games to help them learn that one wins by trying harder and that not winning is motivation to be better.
