These are amazing! I've tried to do these at least once a year since they've opened. It's super fun and the staff are great, friendly and funny. Make sure to make a reservation early, they do book up and sell out for the summer pretty early. And now with COVID, I'm guessing they'll be even busier, which is great to support this business. Highly recommend taking a ride or two!
This was fun!! Late in October. It was cool and misty. The leaves were colorful and because some had fallen, the views were subtly spectacular. Comfortable cars to pedal. Easy to operate and excellent and user friendly personnel made the experience one we want to repeat. It uses old rail lines, do the ride is almost level. 4 miles out, turn around and come back, near the river and through the woods. They fill to capacity quickly, so reservations need to be made in advance.
First let me start by saying we met the owner randomly starting a conversation with her, Mary. She was super pleasant and so into her business, even wiping down the carts herself despite having staff there to do it for her. As a business owner myself you can tell the pride and passion she has for her business. Now as for the experience itself, worth the cost of admission. It's something different to do, awesome concept to ride on old railroad tracks. Definitely would recommend this to anyone looking to get out and explore something new. It's also quiet relaxing. FYI the ride out is easier than the ride back. ENJOY! Applause to you Mary! The rest of the staff was very courteous, pleasant and professional as well. Top notch business.
8/29/2020nThis adventure was nothing short of a miracle. Thank you, Ken, for fixing a MAJOR last minute scheduling snafoo and thank you to the powers that be for turning a day that was projected, for a week, to be all severe thunderstorms into a beautifully warm, slightly overcast day. The odds truly were against us. The adventure did not disappoint my rail enthusiastic son. He was beyond excited to go on the RailExplores trip his train club friends raved about. The staff was funny, attentive, and thorough. The grounds were meticulously kept with abundant seating to eat lunch and chill before and after. The adventure itself took us along a lovely creek and all the green glory I love about the Catskills. Scattered throughout the trip were sculptures typical to the region. It’s was like peddling through a fairy garden. The railway museum on the grounds had a detailed HO Scale layout and the guide was compassionate about how important the tourist industry has always been to the Ulster-Catskills rail line. I hope all the hard working volunteers are able to restore the steamy some day! I already know how much our friends back home are going to love coming here with their families in the future. ud83dude01
Would like to ride on a retired rail light? Love the outdoors? Want to get some leg workout while seeing views? Then this is the place you want to check out. It's definitely a fun activity to do with friends, family or even to do on a date. I won't spoil much but here's a few things to consider.nnI would recommend bringing some bug spray because you are on a open rail kart. Have a strong designated peddler cause it will get tiring haha. Bring some Gatorade or water cause you will get thirsty ud83dude0f. If you're a photographer it might be a good idea to leave it at home cause you'll be busy peddling then setting up the perfect shot haha ud83dude04. And finally have fun and just enjoy each others company.nnAnd just a friendly reminder, THIS IS NOT A RACE so don't worry about holding up people, you'll know when you get there.
