I pretty much raised my kids at Black Bear campgrounds. From 1998 to 2008 it was the only place that my late husband and I would take our kids, 2 or 3 times a yr. I moved to South Florida 12yrs ago and till this day I still talk about Black Bear campgrounds. It's not just a place to enjoy the great outdoors but a place of love, making new friends and a place to bring family together. It's been 12yrs to long and now my kids that are all grown, married and have their own kids are making the summer trip back to Black Bear Campgrounds, and show my grandbabies the beauty of it all. Black Bear Campgrounds from me & my kids thank you for the love.

CASH ONLY!! If you want a fire- you will need TWO bundles for each night $15 total/night. Creek tent sites $40/night for 2 people. You can walk to Phoenicia market in 3 minutes. You are paying for the creek tent sites (amazing!!!) picnic table, fire pit, water spigot, electric. Go fishing & swimming in the creek. Fall asleep to creek noise. Wake up to beautiful view!!! The owner very nice guy. NO VERIZON CELL SERVICE! The men’s restrooms are more like “outhouse.” The showers are WARM not hot. Very primitive bathrooms compared to other campgrounds. Need major updating. Restrooms look like an amateur DIY project. You are paying for the creek sites.

My name is “Noel Rodriguez;nAnd I have to say that this campsite is one of the most relaxing places I’ve ever been to. “Phoenicia campgrounds are clean and Amazing! The view is breathtaking. “(Site 19) allows you to see water streaming, moonlight reflecting off the water & much moor!! The owners are accommodating & salt of the earth people.nPlease visit the campgrounds for peace of mind.

This is the best campground in the Catskills! The owners Linda and George are the nicest most welcoming people and George will fix that toilet for you in the middle of the night. This is a party friendly campground and is welcoming to all. Every year our group comes and we have the best time ever. Some of the sites are right on the river so you can swim whenever you’d like. The town is a 3 minute walk for food, groceries, beer, the bar and even a quaint liquor store. I recommend this campground to anyone who enjoys camping. Lots of bears (hence the name), put your coolers and food in the car or your butter will get stolen by those bad boy bears. Go check it out. Nice toilet seats too. Ta ta

I’ve been coming to this campground 7-8 years now. The owner George is very polite and professional. As soon as you arrive you are warned about the wild life and what precautions to take. He makes you feel welcomed. This time we went we didn’t get to reserve a site by the water but when we arrived they had a cancellation and he was able to accommodate us. They have multiple stalls in the bathroom and a few showers as well. The main office has fire wood, ice, batteries, etc and if there’s anything else you need, there a market in walking distance. Highly recommend this camp site.
