She apparently already declined your services when you and I spoke again. Our inquiry was whether your firm helped complete applications and/or assisted with appeal after denial of benefits. My phone says the call lasted 5 mins. Your response solidified my view of your caring & consideration, which is provisionally offered. We're happy to move on & not waste your time or ours.

We read good reviews for this firm, but our experience didn't get off to a good start, and I am not sure why. I was calling on behalf of a person who is suffering from debilitating symptoms due to multiple head injuries. We briefly described her situation & tried to answer his questions, primarily why she could no longer do her job & required a medical leave. We mentioned her diagnoses, but he didn’t want that, then we tried to describe her symptoms, & that was wrong, too. Just as we realized how to present the info, he became condescending & otherwise unfriendly in his approach. Tone of voice delivers substantial info.
This friend has cognitive & communication challenges, so getting on the same track may take a few tries. His comment was that he had "had a brain injury, too, but was able to work.” First, that helped us understand what he was asking, but it was also a sign that he didn’t understand every brain injury is different, and getting perfect responses within a few minutes on the phone may not be the best way for a cognitively-challenged person to communicate. As an engineer, I usually navigate these types of situations fairly well based on input/output, logical steps, & reasonableness, but he told us to look elsewhere before settling into the conversation. We can only speculate why he quickly became testy with us. My friend worked in the dental industry, which typically pays well. She likes her career & certainly wants to maintain the means it had allowed her, but she was apprehensive about approaching disability benefits (that she's paid into). She needs time to heal so she can return to work. He didn't appear to grasp what it is like for a brain-injured person to communicate, especially over the phone, but also his lack of patience & quick trigger told us this is not a good fit for her situation. I had simply called to ask if they help to complete the application for SSDI, but the call derailed so fast I couldn’t even ask that question. Frankly, the way he spoke to us deserves an apology.
I imagine he will reply to this review as he has others with similar events. We were polite, attempting to understand his requests. His demeanor was far from what I experienced during my head injury path. If like his other responses, he will dismiss us in some form. We are honest, hard-working professionals who are quite good in our careers & approach our interactions with good intentions. Given the speed at which we were judged, and inaccurately so, during our short call, you’ll have one brief shot to explain yourself before he hits the buzzer. TIP- Write down the exact, specific reasons why you can no longer do your job before calling. It is difficult to respond when being grilled so have it ready!
As I ponder this negative experience, I wonder where we went wrong (he’ll tell us), but I also wonder if he has the courage or humility to apologize when he isn't at his best. Any sharp communication with others will breed negative reactions, so his hardness with some potential clients is plausible. It happens to all of us, but given reviews with similar accounts, other folks were likely as astonished as we were. The number of reviews by his colleagues was surprising. Without calculating his average stars when disregarding those and count only clients/potential clients, it is clear that his rating would be lower. I’m not saying he isn’t a good or even great lawyer, as many claim. But, is he always the perfect interviewer one can infer from his justifications? Tread carefully.
Seriously one of the best lawyers out there. He knows what he is doing and does it well. If you ever need a lawyer for ssi then glen cook is the person to go to.
