Community Nursery School of Irondequoit

I love this school and it's teachers so much, we keep coming back. My youngest is currently enrolled, she makes the 4th child that I have put through this school. The 3 and 4s teacher is the heart and soul of the school. Her passion for children and education is tireless, and really shows through in everything she does. 2 of my kids have late November birthdays, so I worried about them being ready for kindergarten, especially now that kindergarten is so demanding, but they were more then prepared and transitioned so smoothly knowing everything they needed, as well as being prepared emotionally and with enough maturity, knowing how to handle themselves in a classroom setting with other kids. I love being able to assist (you don't have to if you can not) and being able to interact with the other kids, parents and the teacher. The 3 and 4s teachers' programs are so great, and she really tailors them to each class, age and ability level. She is so patient, knowledgeable, respectful and full of energy and passion for what she does. The school also now has a 2s class, which my daughter loved. It was great for socializing her with other kids her age, and the 2s teacher is so patient, kind and creative. I couldn't imagine having a better start to my childrens education. I take where and who I leave my kids with very seriously, and this school has more then surpassed my expectations.

If I could give a 0 star rating I would. The teacher for the 3s and 4s class has absolutely NO patience for kids whatsoever. I pulled my child half way through because of that. Also, she recommends special services to kids that do not need them just so they will have someone by their side. Many people are aware of that. As a teacher, she has no skill set to help the kids all she does is bark at them. Her attitude is very unprofessional as well as the comments she makes. And its all about $ when they decide how many kids are accepted into the class I was extremely unhappy with being told there was only a max of 16 and then when school started there was 20. I will continue to share my experience about this school with others and I'm sure many others feel the same way and will do the same. My child goes to Summerville Nursery School now & its a MUCH better school and great fit!!
