Maine Heated Self Storage

Extremely clean. Stored my items for over a year with no issues or problems.

Had my belongings in a unit here for about a year while I relocated and found a house in Maine. Picked this facility because it boasted climate controlled spaces and has indoor units. I was storing a lot of household items, linens, my sons toys and mementos (pictures etc.). Around March I was moving some more things into the unit I opened the door and there was a huge puddle on the floor. I caked and was told that it was likely from the maintenances person tracking snow in on his boots after shoveling. Don’t know how’s this would result in a huge puddle in my unit underneath boxes but I was told that as soon as a unit opened in my size I would be notified. There were several other units open but all bigger they wouldn’t honor the price I was paying. The same thing happened further into the Spring and was offered no resolution other than to move by belongings into a larger, more expensive unit. There was one unit across from mine that looked about the same size that was vacant but I was told I couldn’t be move into it because it wasn’t filled with black mold. I was reassured by the owner that the insurance I paid for monthly with the cost of the unit would cover any damage to my belongings. I bought and moved into a house about a month ago and when I moved my things out of the unit there were stagnant puddles all the way to the back of the unit and cardboard boxes that were on the floor were falling apart as I picked them up. Blankets, other linens, etc. all smell of mildew, I had to either pay to have them laundered or throw them out. Lost several books of my sons he was given when he was born. Haven’t finished going through everything yet. I did reach out to the insurance company re: a claim to have the things I lost replaced and they don’t cover water damage unless it comes from above so nothing I lost will be replaced. The insurance I was forced to pay for the unit was a complete waste.

Never rented a unit but helped someone move in. The building was clean and well kept. Plenty of light.

It’s been over a year and counting that I’ve had my belongings there and it’s been so good so far!
