The park has sculpted plaques that reveals the history of Alabama from prehistoric times through today, with a focus on civil rights. Throughout downtown Montgomery, there are many informative bulletins that cause the area to feel like a museum. The area is very walkable and a pleasant way to spend an afternoon.
Great tourist attraction. So much history in the park
A kind of fantastic open air museum that describes Alabama history through dozens of historical stories and statues. A must-see just in front of capitol state.
This is a really cool area! And by that I mean the very well-executed historical monuments that ring the half circle in front of the capitol building. There are sixteen monuments with incredible sculptural bronze plaques and descriptions, tracing the land and its people all the way from pre-history to the future. It's definitely worth a walk around.
