South Smiths Station Elementary School

This is a good school but if you can avoid having your child placed in Amy Cannon's class do so. She is a very cold and a unprofessional person. She fails to return emails and lies that she can not give you advise on your child because it is state law but no laws exists. I spoke to the assistant principal Mrs Tomlin who confirmed that it was only a school guideline to not advise parents on what decision to make regarding your childs education. We should trust these people with our children all day, educating them, nurturing them, and disciplining them but they can't tell us what type of class they would do best in. Mrs Cannon doesn't care at all about your student nor does she even know how they are doing in the class. When the drop or stay notice came out my son had the exact grade as the day she sent a second email one week later simply stating that the principle asked her to send a second email. Up to that point all my emails were unanswered because she was not told to answer any emails or to communicate with parents. So if your looking for a real human being with feelings to care for and teach your son or daughter Amy Cannon from Smith Station junior high is not the teacher for your student. So parents please know that this is not a bashing for the school or Mrs Amy Cannon it is simply the facts regarding a teachers actions or inactions.
