We enjoyed a 2 night stay in Rickwood Caverns State Park. Its a nice, small campground with a small gift shop, several hiking trails, clean bathrooms/showers, and guided tours through the caverns. Morgan was our tour guide and she was not only very educated on the science of caves and the history of these specific caves, but she was enthusiastic and answered questions throughout the your, gave anecdotes throughout and was very friendly and personable! A great place for a day trip or an extended stay.nnSite 10 was perfectly level but our hook ups were located on the opposite side - not all sites were this way. Make sure you have ample extensions for cords/hoses. Also, site 10s water had frozen and busted the pipe at some point - so we did not have a working water hook up - we just filled our fresh water tank with another site's, so it wasn't a problem for us ... Just something to note. Looks like in the summer months they have a nice pool! Overall it was a great park.
Amazing one night stop for us in the campground- nice bathhouse, would love to see that pool during the right season. Hiked around the park the day we arrived, the history of the cavern and tour was SO worth it to our kids. Many caves/ caverns have not been open over the last 6+ months and we've been wanting to do this. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and fun. Mary have gotten boring for more than a couple nights, but we don't know the area and were just driving through.
Neat park and great cave system. Good trails and playground for the kids. RV sites need some attention, would be a great place to camp if they modernized the sites a little. Will be going back soon.
Beautiful place
This place was amazing! Wear good shoes and be ready for a hike out of the caverns. Also, be ready to enjoy the absolute cuteness of the hibernating cave bats =D
