A hidden gem in the heart of the Appalachian mountains. Full hookup RV sites with bathhouse, primitive campsites and two fully stocked cabins all tucked away above a beautiful lake. Fish, hike, take a paddle boat ride, or just relax. We saw deer with fawns, turkey, fox, raccoons, rabbits and one coyote. The staff is amazing and will make your stay perfect. Such a well run and maintained park to be county owned. The only downside is no swimming. Overall a must stay for the avid outdoorsman. Bravo Tazewell county, VA, Cavitts Creek Park is a spot on success for tourism.

Very nice place to camp and hike around. The scenery is very nice and although the kayaks weren't available when we went, they looked like a lot of fun. The campers bathroom was a little dirty but it's about average for any campgrounds bathhouse. The staff were very friendly and nice to talk to. The hiking trail around the lake is a little sketchy because it's so skinny but there were nice bridges to cross some small streams. The campgrounds themselves were a good size and they had a metal fire pit. The hill to the bathhouse is sort of steep but it's not bad if you only need to go there once or twice a day.

Beautiful day at Cavitt's Creek Park! Was not crowded at all despite being Labor Day. The park is well maintained and most people seem to pick up after themselves so the park was mostly trash free. We grilled out and had a picnic, played on the playground and stuck our feet in the water. Lots of people were camping and fishing. I had thought we might rent a paddle boat, but we didn't make it over there.

We are back home. I HATE to say, It was a very disappointing camping area.nnThe electric/water sites for campers are in a large gravel parking lot, 8 spots, on top hill like a parking lot.nnThere is No shade, no privacy between campers and their is a large shelter at end lot (it sat maybe 30 feet on the other side of our motorhome) and so people driving to it did so literally beside our motorhome, to get to it. You couldn’t even sit outside because the campers are against each other and if they had slide outs, came over into your spot. We had lot 8. The last one in the row, nearest the shelter/and turn around in the loop. So all traffic went around us. We had to move the picnic table to give us more room in our spot.nnNow the scenery was beautiful. The Lake wasnwas gorgeous surrounded by the mountains. I could just sat by it and read a good booknand it was very active for fishing from the shoreline. You could rent a peddle boat for $5 an hour. Which since there isn’t a lot of room for RV campers to do anything, it would be nice to have that included in your rental fee at least 1 hour.nnWe had no WiFi access and sketchy cell service. So we couldn’t access our smart TV for some night time tv entertainment.nnSo I completely recommend this is a great spot for a JEEPIN ride and a picnic but DEFINITELY NOT a place to stay for more than one night!
