The water side sites are paved and level, and chances are you will not have dish or direct TV if you have a rooftop mounted satellite (treetops). The views are breathtaking. The water pressure is good and 50 and 30 amp are available. The other sites are tree and non tree covered sites on grass and or dirt. There are no individual black and grey hookups for any sites, but there is an easily accessible camp dump. The staff and security personnel are what you expect from a military organization... outstanding! I would stay again!

A great hidden gem for military and government personnel to take advantage of whether you camp or you can stay in one of their villa's or Yerkes. Only complaint is I wish there was some full hook-up sites.

Really enjoyed our week great government campground. Would have been better with out the virus restrictions of course. Quite, cought up on some needed rest. Short drive to Charleston and thr tourist attractions. Would recommend but bring a sewer tote, no sewer hook up's the only set back.

Nice place to stay IF you have a waterfront site or close to waterfront. No sewage hook up, Joint Command should consider installing sewage hook ups, it sounds difficult but not at all. Sewage hook ups can be done in small sections at a time. The group buildings obviously has sewage lines so tie into the main line. To make it even easier, sewage can be installed so many per quarter starting with the waterfront site since they are considered premium. Command, at least get quotes on possibly have the work done. This campground is nice but has a lot more potential to be modern.

We have been camping here for years. Started in tents and upgraded to camper. I will warn other campers of THE BUGS. We have camped at many different places, but Short Stay has more bugs than any place I've ever been. Ants, house Flys, roaches, and mayflies. PREPARE AHEAD...bring Home Defense Bug barrier and a netted tent for over the picnic table. It's makes a world of difference. But we have had roaches travel home with us from Short Stay in our clothes hamper...so shake your clothes out before bringing into your house. SPRAY YOUR CAMPER FOR BUGS BEFORE GOING. warning, house flies will be all over your food and trash can. We used a screened in tent over picnic table the last time and it made a world of difference. We have also had two separate squirrel encounters here...one time a squirrel took my husband's entire lunch up a tree! Another time, a squirell chewed a hole through our trash can. And this time we had a stray cat come begging for scraps. Other than all that....you can have a great time here! Playground needs updating for sure tho.
