UPDATE (2/2021)... things have digressed as others have said. Our last two orders were so bad they went into the trash. I don’t know what they’re doing to the meat but it has the softest rubbery texture, the fried rice was completely bland. Please go back to the old red dragon. It’s also weird now when you call in you seem to be directed to some call center.nnMy earlier 5-star review from 2019 had said:nnRed Dragon is back! The food quality and taste were just like they were when the former owners ran the restaurant. So happy my favorite Chinese restaurant is back on track.

Classic Chinese take out and it was just right for what I wanted. A few of the dishes could use a little ooompfh, honestly just a touch more soy or salt or spicy goodness, but was great. I had chicken and vegetables, boyfriend had the general chicken (cooked perfectly- you get big chunks of chicken lightly breaded). Also had sweet and sour soup and some fried rice on side. The portions are ginormous- I say that and I eat a lot ud83dude04. I won’t exactly “crave” this place but it’s great to have super close by

The quality has gone down substantially. The last order we got from Red Dragon was inedible. The chicken entrees were extremely rubbery and full of gristle. It also had the very soft “fake meat” consistency. I don’t know if the meat was just over-velveted (process Chinese restaurants use to tenderize meat) or low quality. It’s just not the same since the new owners took over. In the old days they had extremely flavorful fried rice, probably the best I’ve ever had, but now it’s bland consistently. The Moo Shu Chicken used to be my favorite entree, but the last two times I’ve gotten it the flavor has been completely lacking. The old owners always got a slight char on the meat and veggies. The sauce was always perfectly seasoned too. I hope the new owners revert back to the old way of doing things. For over 25 years Red Dragon was the best Chinese in Raleigh, but it’s lost its magic.

SUCH good Chinese. Not super greasy or heavy like other Chinese spots around. The house special lo mein is my fav. Very easy to call in and pick up at the window inside.

I'm attempting to try the Hot & Sour Soup available at all locations throughout the Triangle. So far, Red Dragon is the winner (2/11/2021) and I will update this review accordingly. It has a slight kick, the flavor is spot on, and it's not filled with greasy puddles like other places.nnAlso, their spring rolls are sort of like a normal spring roll combined with an egg roll. Larger than you'd expect for a spring roll and more substance. Filling and delicious. Special mention to the General Tso's Chicken: not the best I've had in the Triangle, but darn tasty.
