Matt did a great job of taking care of me and my hair. He takes his time and makes sure you are getting what you need! The sanitation in the place is amazing. They truly are doing all that they can to prevent any Covid spreading... plus the St. Bernard puppy is 150 lbs of adorable!

It is difficult to write a review for a salon with multiple stylists, since obviously I can't account for every stylist individually. Even so, there are several things about this salon that warrant my recommendation, individuals aside. To begin with, I really like the vibe of this salon. It manages to be upscale, metropolitan, and approachable all at the same time. The owner is a bit of a contradiction as a very down to earth artist (like, she makes paintings on canvas). She therefore attracts stylists who are also down to earth and similarly artistic. There is rarely any turnover here, and it seems from my perspective like a very content group of talented stylists. How often do you see that?nnUntil he passed from cancer just recently, the owner's golden retriever, Walter, was the official salon greeter (RIP sweet Walter). He embodied the laid back atmosphere I am describing, as he made sure everyone felt welcome.nnIn addition to all the standard things one expects as a guest at a boutique hair salon, Crazy Combs also has a lending library on site that customers are invited to take advantage of. You can keep the books you take, bring them back whenever you finish, or donate books of your own. I have two of these books, myself, right now. A gracious old renovated house serves as an ideal location for the salon, and it has a wonderful back porch that staff and customers enjoy in moments of down time.nnFor these reasons and more, I really enjoy going to Crazy Combs. If you are looking for a new stylist, I think this place is worth your consideration. The staff really takes the time to get to know you, and you are sure to feel right at home. I recommended giving them a call and talking over what you need.

Crazy Combs Salon epitomizes Downtown Raleigh. It is welcoming, cool and comfortable. The shop dog, Walter, greets customers with a lazy tail wag, from his slumber spot on the beautifully aged hardwood floors. The skilled and knowledgeable staff make every customer feel like they are just stopping by to have a cup of coffee with a friend - and getting the best haircut of your life somehow becomes an afterthought.
