Going to Max's is more of an event than just a haircut. Great cut,yes. But it's all about Max. Funny, intelligent, caring. Gone are the ashtrays, still there is the homey atmosphere. Always feel like I'm visiting a friend. Quintessential Carolina beach hospitality. Thank you Max

I walked in this place after reading all the good reviews online, but I couldn't walk out fast enough. Between the smoke and dirty ashtray sitting in the waiting area, I couldn't endure sitting there long enough to get a haircut. So, I honestly can't speak of her skills as a barber. She may be wonderful.nDefinitely an old school barber shop and not a professionally run business by today's standards (unless you're a smoker). Not somewhere I'd recommend taking kids, unless of course you don't mind them huffing second hand smoke and leaving smelling like the Marlboro man.

Max does a great job on my hair cutt but you will be walking out of there smelling like an ashtray!! Plus is very unprofessional on max part to be smoking while serving customers at the same time.

Have not been there in quite awhile but she is very friendly and a good barber, she does what you ask, quite a rarity these days
