So much fun for all ages!! There is an area you can dig your own rocks and another area you can buy already dug buckets of rocks and dirt. The slucing area is comfortable and shaded. A 3rd area is the creek, which is nice and cool water that feels great in the heat of the day. The people who work here seem knowledgeable and nice. The prices are good and it was a super fun time by all. Highly recommend for a great day spent.
The staff was friendly and the manager helped us out. Overall it was a fun experience and we have some gems to show for it. The only downside is the cost. It is $12 per adult and $7 per child....BEFORE you purchase the bucket of sand to sift through. I'm not sure what the cost of other activities are, as we only did the sluicing. From what I've been told, you can have the same experience in the Cherokee area for considerably less. That being said, we were informed by the staff that the fee is to cover the costs they have associated with the operating of an active mine. I do recommend the experience here.
This is such a great day trip! The staff is friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the mining and digging experience - like a big kid’s sandbox! Be prepared to get really dirty and wet if you go to the creek. The creek was our favorite part. We were grateful for the suggestion to bring a wagon and a change of clothes for the ride home. Bring a few old towels too! Come with the expectation to enjoy the experience and the process of mining. Buy a bucket at the end to leave with a few treasures! Side note: the big pieces you dig up are almost guaranteed to be rocks!
You could blow a whole day and a paycheck here if you wanted. What a cool experience for ALL ages. If you have young kids, I recommend the sluicing. The creek is fun but the kids got bored pretty quick. They absolutely loved the sluicing. For adults, all activities are really cool. The staff here is very knowledgeable and the gem store rocks (tehehe)!
Super friendly and helpful. Staff was kind to my seven year old and made a point to help him identify gems he found. The young woman in the lapidary was especially wonderful and patient helping my son further identify his finds and even helping to break open his geode.
