Very nice place. It's ducked off in Moss bluff.. some people live in lake Charles have never been here in their life.. place to go and feel like you're somewhere else relax. Hit the reset button.
Love this park! Great trails. Looking forward to it opening up again in 2021.
A small state park with wetlands, lots of trees, an RV area, a few cabins to book for overnight stays, and plenty of areas and trails and paths for walking or biking. I take my dog there sometimes for a good, interesting walk. We can walk along the streets in the park, or head off onto a shaded treed path that winds for a long distance. Or we can walk along the river. There's a small playground area for kids. And there is a nature trail just for young kids! It's an easy, short nature trail, dotted along the way w/little benches and colorful pictures of mushrooms & such. People take their bikes out there and ride on either streets or nature trails. Trails are marked and long enough for the hardy, but easy enough to do a short version for those who want that. There's a concrete building w/restrooms for holding events. Picnic tables with grills. My dog and I love to go for walks there. Lovely, peaceful surroundings, with plenty of scents and sights to interest my dog. Leashes and picking up after pets are required. I go at times that aren't peak, so it's not unusual for us to be one of the few there. If we're lucky, we get a glimpse of one of the free-roaming deer there. I don't live far from the park, so am able to go regularly. Love it.
The park is closed for renovations. But it's a beautiful Park and they're doing a wonderful job.
My wife and I left Florida and travel the United States to the north then out west, running the southern potion back home. We made a week stop at Sam Houston Jones State Park to find it one of the best parks in this country. It was so relaxing and beautiful my wife felt like she was home already. We will certainly visit this park again and would suggest to anyone to stay here. Our 5th wheel was 40' and had more than enough room to get around.
