So very cool. Today it's empty, open, and lovely. I will be back soon even if just for the day.
Hostess and staff were very friendly, sites are very clean and well kept. You may find free off-road camping in the wma, but here they have staff ready to help and answer questions, premade campsites with heated bathrooms and showers, a big lake for fishing and swimming, Hiking and biking trails and alot more. It's a great value and experience for 18 a night, would definitely come back.
Lake was beautiful but campground was a disappointment. It was quite a distance from the scenic part of the lake and mosquitos were horrible. it was also quite crowded where we were. Finally, we saw a chemical plant only a mile away when we were leaving. That didnt make me feel comfortable at all.
Half the campground was closed for some reason and this information was not available anywhere until we arrived and it was written on a piece of cardboard. There ARE NO FIRST COME FIRST SERVE CAMPSITES - the campground was 100% reserved for several weeks out, which is not what it said on their website. This place was a complete waste of time, and the website is totally inaccurate.
