Watertown Assessors Office

The assessor is not competent. This office submitted a $5000 1099 to the IRS in error and the assessor insisted it wasn’t an error. we are neither a contractor of the town of Watertown nor and employee of the town of Watertown so the 1099 should never have been cut. When I pressed the assessor to read IRS policy he would not provide the code he referenced.. Later, he admitted that it was his discretion to either submit a correction to the IRS or put the burden on us to accept their erroneous 1099 and expense this amount on our income taxes. He proceeded to tell me how he makes so much money that he waits until the very last minute to cut a check for his own personal taxes to the IRS. His customer service skills are awful he’s not a good listener didn’t hear the complaint as a valid complaint and there is a way to vote them out of office I will be first in line.
