Captain Bill did a great job from the word go! He got us on the boat, gave us a safety briefing, and then we slowly motored out for an awesome experience. We probably saw 30+ manatees during our 1.5 hours in the water. Couldn't have been a better day - took the 7:00 a.m. tour. Thanks Bill!
My husband and I took the 7am silver tour this morning with captain Tom, and it was an amazing adventure! Captain Tom was friendly, knowledgeable, and personable. We were able to see and swim with manatees, and he made sure we were able to get photos and videos of these big beautiful creatures. It was a dream come true!nWe booked out tour on Thanksgiving day through Rosie, a lovely young lady in the shop attached to the Best Western. She too was friendly, knowledgeable, and so very helpful with suggestions for me and my husband to enjoy in Crystal River during the holiday weekend. She’s a lovely soul, and her suggestions for restaurants, nature preserves, and even a massage made our trip an amazing experience.
I have been wanting to swim with the manatees for a very long time. Finally I had the chance, while on vacation a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately, I was disappointed by the experience and it was not at all what I expected. The video you watch prior to going out on the boat, shows dozens of manatee in the water, interacting with the people around them. It was not at all like this. our group only saw one manatee and she was just resting on the bottom of the sand. After we got back on the boat, the guide informed us that you see more manatee in the wintertime, when the ocean gets cold and the manatee are looking for the warmer temps of the springs. That is something that I think should be disclosed prior to purchasing the tickets for the experience. In my opinion, the cost of the experience was too high, with only seeing one Manatee.nOn a positive note, our guide, Eve, was great and if it were not for him, the experience would have not been as good. Kudos to him, for his enthusiasm and knowledge about the manatees.
Had a really good time! Even tho it was warm and most manatees went out to the gulf, captain Tom was great and still found us some to swim with. Everyone was so friendly and polite. We will definitely be back next year!
They are so very kind and relaxed, I forget the mans name who took us out on our tour, but I do remember he came from Key West, FL. He made sure we were taken care of, & my wife actually went back to the boat and relaxed while I continued my tour alone, he didn’t care at all & also didn’t make her feel uncomfortable one bit, it honestly felt if your favorite uncle took you out. The river is absolutely breathtaking and a once in a lifetime experience. We were SO glad we drove up from Clearwater, FL to experience swimming with them! We hope to visit you guys in the future again, from your friends in OHIO!!
