The hike is easy and short one. You can reach the summit in 40 mins with break. The summit can be winding so would suggest taking your ear plugs. Once you have reached the top,the view is breath taking

Beautiful place. Hike isn't too bad at all and relatively short. We went on a cloudy rainy day during peak season and although we couldn't see very far, it was still really majestic. It's a pretty special place to me also because it's where I told my girlfriend I loved her for the first time. Highly recommend to anyone driving down skyline drive and wants a quick easy hike with a big payoff!

One of our favorite short hikes! An easy, 20-minute hike from the Skyland parking lot, or a very nice ridge hike of about 4 miles round trip with great valley views along the way--highly recommended! The summit is spectacular and the views breathtaking.

Easy, leisurely walk from Skyland Resort (more challenging hike from lower parking area).

We spent a week in the area, and this was a great stop along Skyline Drive. The hike was moderately easy, but there is a fair amount of uphill. The woods here are so pretty and trail loops so you can see different scenery on the way back. The rocky lookout was awesome. The entire valley splays out before you for miles and miles. We were so high, we were level with a low cloud and watched it flow over the ridge. It was really neat. I totally recommend this hike for anyone in moderate shape.
