Trail was easy-moderate due to rocky terrain. Plenty of kids able to handle it. Absolutely breathtaking view at the top. Hike is quick for the amazing view!

Hawksbill is very popular spot at Shenandoah National Park, at the trailhead it's hard to find regular parking spot, just park at road side; plan to spend 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours on the trail and reserve 10-20 minutes at the peak to enjoy the 360 degree view at the highest point of Shenandoah mountain-4051 feet.nnI hiked AT Georgia section, and always wanted to experience AT sections of different states, this is my opportunity to do so. We chose AT-Hawksbill Loop, started at lower Hawksbill, uphill was little challenging for a warmup, but it's okay. Actually it's the only hard park of this trail.

Awesome views but very very steep 0.6 mile hike. Nice covered building with picnic tables in it and an observation platform at the summit.

Plenty of parking on both sides of Skyline Drive. Trailhead is well marked. Trail signage is accurate and clear. I recommend taking the route that leads you along the Appalachian Trail for a ways. Some very nice outcroppings as you approach the summit which are more likely to be private.

Great hike. It is a fairly short distance to the summit, but it is a very steep and relentless climb. So you need to be prepared for a workout. The view once at the top is fantastic. Bring a picnic and enjoy it for a while, plenty of space to relax and enjoy the view from the rocks along the peak.
