Beautiful example of what a visitor center should be.nnCome early during weekends as this facility will fill up fast with visitors wanting information and souvenirs of the area. Approaching the center, busses can drop off folks close to the centers entrance without a steep walk to the door. There is a small well kept butterfly garden with native flowers and plants. Enjoy the easy views behind you to get a sense of what is to come.nnOnce inside, a vestibule greets you with local art and crafts. Lovely staff awaits you at the counter to host you and your questions. They even offered suggestions on places to eat outside the park to get a sense of the local culture and cuisine.nnAs part of the center, a short program is offered to younger kids who need playful activities and props to understand animals of the area. Check with the staff on the times this ‘show and tell’ is available. (There may be a placard for the times).nnWalking further on the right side of the center, a rich historic preservation of history and tools natives used to hunt and settle the area. There is even a small display of trail building equipment and a full sized bear. Roarrr!nnAgain, the staff is helpful even during peak weekend hours.nnBehind the center are more strenuous but short foot trails that will be discussed at other locations.nnHappy trails.
