One of my favorite places to go for nature walks in Charlottesville. Lots of trail options that are clearly marked. Beautiful streams run throughout. On my hikes I've seen squirrels, deer, a mouse, a snake and an owl. Clean restrooms that are currently open.

Well marked trails. Perfect for all ages. This place has many trails, but it's set up logically to allow you to easily add or remove distance. Plan the red and add loops on to increase distance. This is a perfect place to take kids or grandparents that want to get outside but can't commit to a long hike..the parking is never that far away. NOTE: no dogs allowed.

Great trails to hike around and see the nature. The water is clean and can be frozen on super cold days. I got to see a blue heron bird hunting some fish or frogs which was incredible. The barn is also very educational.

We enjoyed the red loop trail and plan to come back to do more exploring! The Foundation has done a fantastic job making this area a valuable educational as well as recreational resource. We appreciated the many educational signs and QR codes about the history of the property and natural history of the area. The trails are very well marked and easy to access from the parking lot. We enjoyed the lovely views of the river and the restored meadows. There are still lots of beautiful insects to see there! We also saw many turtles and birds. Highly recommend for families and casual hikers looking for an easy but rewarding walk.

Kids loved seeing all of the birds and turtles and enjoyed playing in the creek. Trails were clearly marked and well maintained.
