Amazingly fun hike if you like getting muddy and roughing it. Lots of people seem to wander about the first half without ever making it to even the first waterfall, and once you get there, you've still got lots more to see! The secret is to head down into the bamboo from the road and follow the trails to the right until you reach a small plank going across a stream raging below. Once passed that, we went up the path on our left, then headed upwards, eventually leaning rightward again towards the sound of the stream. Cross the stream via the large boulders and rocks, then followed the path on the other side of the stream until you hear the loud sounds of the first waterfall. Once at the first waterfall, cross the stream again at this spot using the rocks as a guide, and there should be a rope hooked into the side of a rocky hill face. Climbing up it, there was a path up towards the right that goes along the stream again. The second waterfall pool is up there, and in my opinion, far prettier! There's even an old rope swing up near the top left of the waterfall for the truly daring. Lastly, there's an old ladder visible on the left side of the second waterfall pool with another rope to climb up to the third waterfall. Climb that up to the top if you're daring! It's a fun rough hike for those that are able to hoist their body weight and aren't too afraid of slippery rocks or muddy shoes. You'll get dirty, but it's worth the trip!
Park when you see Mile marker 6.5 on road to Hana. There’s a small cut out in the bushes follow the sound of the water. Easy hike with kids to both water falls.nWear water shoes you will cross over the water creeks into the bamboo forest! Have fun! And don’t forget the bug spray.
Quick hike to see some unique bamboo trees and a beautiful stream. I recommend wearing tennis shoes because it is a little slick in some muddy areas and traversing the rocks was easier in shoes. My kids swam in the creek and had a blast!
Fun and adventurous hike through a bamboo forest. Be prepared to get muddy. The first waterfall is easier to get to than the second waterfall. It can be a bit sketchy. Once you get to the second waterfall there’s an awesome rope swing to swing off of! Be careful of the cliff side when going through bamboo maze. Bring bug spray and an extra pair of shoes. It had been raining and was super slippery and muddy. When we climbed up the ladder to continue to the stream it started raining which really worries us due to the dangers of being in a river bed and flash floods. Be safe, bring water and have fun!
Beautiful hike! It’s a trek before you get to the bamboo but so worth it. The forest is beautiful and so peaceful. If you get rained on like we did just keep going. It will make the waterfalls at the end that much better. It’s worth it to keep going to the end!
