Ruby Peak Naturals

Pretty awesome to have some of the selections that are carried at this small shop available to us in the county! Many of these items just can't be found anywhere around here, so that's great.nnHowever, not sure what it is, but the service here has always been subpar when I stop in. To be fair, that's been maybe five times, but five mediocre visits is still a lot. Yesterday, I was rudely spoken to by the cashier because I touched a bag of cashews from the bulk bin that I changed my mind on. The cashier was quite condescending when I explained that no, I did not touch a single cashew IN THE BAG, only the bag itself (clearly COVID-fear related) and that the other pre-filled bulk bags of cashews had been touched by other guests as well. It's always funny to me to walk into a health-food store and see a staff driven by fear forgetting that we hold our health in our own hands regarding our food choices.nnAnyhow, many items are perused and touched in that store daily by people not wearing gloves and I certainly hope they're not all treated in the same manner as I experienced. The cashier didn't say a word during the transaction after this and not even a goodbye. Also, I've seen food prepared in the small kitchen inside without gloves being worn and there's a 99.9% probability that this cashier had eaten out in the last nine months, consuming food prepared by cooks who do not wear gloves in the kitchen (as most do not). Let's rationalize our fears and not treat out guests this way?

Great shop for natural foods! Loved getting ice cream there when I was in town. Totally worth a shop for treats!

Great staff and ownership, good selection of non-perishable items. There's not a lot of fresh produce to work with in Wallowa County, so their produce selection is sparse and dynamic, but they do their best to offer what they can get. It's also a comfortable little cafe. This is currently the best natural foods shop in the county.

I love just hanging out in this store. It's small and cozy and just feels every bit as welcoming as the staff try to make it be. Prices are good for the area as well.
