Great little man made lake stocked with fish. Make sure to catch and release!! Small boats allowed but no motors. Perfect spot to fish, walk, bike, jog, or bring lunch with a friend. Great place to take dogs for a walk and huge shaded play area for kids. Lots of picnic areas to grill and relax. All around perfect little paradise in the middle of east Tucson. The views...priceless.
I give it a 4 star. Only because this is the desert and water that gathers in this size of puddle is really rare. Anywhere else in America and she'd be a 2 star. It definitely was a little dirty as trash was floating around the edges of the pond and that never looks too appealing. Luckily though, I did notice there were some nice people coming around picking up trash a couple of different times as I fished for the 3 hours that day. I did manage to catch 1 really beautiful rainbow trout so it's worthy of fishing and I must add that it's a safe environment for families to bring their kids out to feed the ducks and enjoy Chuck Ford Lakeside.
Busy lake but seemed well stocked. I saw a paddle boat and motor boat in the lake and many fishermen. Kids feeding the ducks, who are friendly. Or have been to my kids and me. Nice covered playset, baseball fields, a spacious grassy area for flying a kite, throwing or kicking a ball around, or taking nap. I did see some grills. Not much shade.
It's a pleasant park. We were there when the weather was moderately comfortable, but it will be very hot once summer hits. I wish there were more trees around the man-made lake.
Great place to come visit and take a walk. I love watching the wildlife in the area. I have noticed some birds injured there. If you do notice that please call the wildlife center (the two coots with injured legs have been called in multiple times but are hard to capture). It's a nice small park with a large lake to fish on that side of town. There are signs to regulate the fishing (limits on what you can take) and walkway areas.
