Great hike and scenery, even has a drinking fountain at the entrance. Hiking shoes are best as some of the path is rocky.
Nice trail for a hike. Seemed to me that most people would hike in about 1.5 miles and turn back. The 1.5 took me about an hour going slow. I think too complicate the whole trail it would be a 6hr hike going in and back out.nTrail has some nice views and good steps, I used a set of hiking sticks but I think more advanced hikers would do fine without the sticks.nWater is available at the entrance but you will need to pack in the water.
Some rugged trails. Come with the proper footwear if you want to get very far.
Two things to know before you arrive: 1) Very limited parking and 2) No dogs allowed.nnFor the parking deal, you could plan to arrive early a.m. or get a Lyft there. For the no dogs deal, this seems to be a common restriction in mountain areas surrounding Tucson. Before choosing to comply or not, consider the fact that dogs do not start wildfires, dogs do not leave plastic bottles and food wrappers on the trails, dogs do not bring boombox speakers to force strangers to listen to their music, dogs do not pollute the air/land/water with chemical toxins, and dogs do not bulldoze and obliterate natural ecosystems in order to build tract homes and subdivisions. Given that humans do all these things and are allowed to hike the trails, you might find the “No Dogs Allowed” rule to be morally questionable and offensive.
Excellent hiking and a very far hike you can complete in 2-3 days if you want to do it all.Summer nights you can see all the animals of the desert,be careful of law enforcement, very strict on curfew.Just tell them your coming back from your hike.Trailhead closes at sunset.
