Vast majority of my ascent details are annotated in my report for Wheeler Peak.nnThis peak was my last visited on this date. From Wheeler Peak i made my way to Simpson Peak, and from there I made my way to Mount Walter.nnLink back up with the trail and head North towards the cairn that marks the intersection of trails on the ridgeline. Continue North to the high point in front of you.nnAt the summit you'll find a plaque erected on a sign post and a slabe of stone at its base that's inscribed. It is here you get an excellent view of the scenery to the North and Northeast as well as a slightly different perspective of the surrounding region as a whole. Enjoy!nnAs always, stay safe, leave no trace, and stay wild!

Although this mountain lives in a shadow of his famous neighbor, there is no better spot to take pictures of Wheeler Peak, so don’t hesitate and climb it!nBut actually I would highly recommend to take Bull-of-the-Wood Trail which will bring you directly to Mount Walter (and onwards to Wheeler Peak). This trail is not so trafficked and has a smaller incline.

This is a hike you have to make! Beautiful views.

Awesome views if it wasn't so smokey. Hit Mt. Walter right before heading to Wheeler Peak, highest point in NM. Strongly suggest starting early as storms move in by noon a lot of days. Trailhead can be a bugger to find if you don't have directions as well, so make sure you know where you're going. The ski area can make things confusing.

Well worth the hike. The wind was awesome at the ridge, and for someone who lives life at 1400 feet, the 13er was a challenge.
