Great park near downtown Taos for walking, bird-watching, or just being lazy in the shade! It has great playground equipment & swings if you have kids. I see lots of folks with dogs here also.nnFwiw, it is 0.83 miles from the parking lot all the way around the outside perimeter of the park (the big open lot across the bridge I mean, NOT the playground side). Lots of trees, lovely place to have a picnic or walk your pooch!
I come here fairly often, every few weeks, and my wife brings the dogs a couple of times a week. In warm weather there are usually lots of walkers (not TWD kind), kids and dogs until mid morning. That level of activity resumes mid afternoon so if you’re looking for solitude midday/early afternoon is good.nnTown of Taos parks are very dog friendly with several dispensers for biodegradable poop bags in each. Fred Baca park adjoins wetlands and has a walkway elevated just enough for dry walking.nnWildlife lives in the wetlands and migratory birds visit as well. The park adjoins and accesses Rio Fernando Park so I usually walk through both. Some of the photos l am sharing are from the RFP.
Cute little space and some shade to park in. Pit toilets and walking trail. If I had a dog I would walk her here happily.nUpdate, watch out for discarded and uncapped hypodermic syringes in the parking lot. I just cleaned up 4 left by local junkies and I sure would hate an unsuspecting parent of a child to have to deal with their child being jabbed. I've not seen that type of people here when I visit but they obviously visit and leave their problematic trash behind without a thought. Very sad to see here.
A very well kept park with a cute forested nature path! People here are nice they say hello often! They also have a small picnic area surrounded by trees that makes for a great hangout spot.
No traffic noise. Beautiful fall colors. The trees!
