Fawn Lakes Campground

Have camped here for many years. My wife used to love fishing in the lakes, but they no longer exist. In their place is a couple of mud puddles and a washed out dam. I wonder why the park service did not remove the tree that the beaver put in the river, diverting the flow into the lakes and destroying them. It will now cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to repair.

Fantastic campground. Clean toilets (pit toilet). No showers. Nice hosts. Red River flows through campground and along some camp sites. The Fawn Lakes are no more. They appear to have washed out some time ago. Short distance from town.

This is a beautiful area to explore and fish in the river or the several lakes! Unfortunately some trails have been eroded away so maintenance is needed.

This is the best campground I have been too so far! Right by the stream with walking trails and so much more!
