Trailhead has plowed parking and toilets. Trail has little elevation gain for the first half or so as it crosses the Colorado River floodplain. The junction of the Bowen/Baker trails is well marked. The trails are currently snow-covered with snow depth increasing with elevation gain. The Bowen Trail is heavily cross country skied, hiked and snowshoed and follows a dirt road bed for a while. Baker Trail is less traveled, although it follows a flat winding trail through the trees. After about a half a mile the trail starts climbing steeply.
Great location for a picnic. Beautiful views.
Great views and generally epic scenery. There is quite a lot of elevation gain here, depending on the trail. We did the loop which is around 19 miles for a 2 day, 1 night trip. First day in was all of the climbing and I felt it. We saw more moose here in one grouping than I’ve ever seen together before - 7 in one little herd. We brought our dog and it didn’t seem to be a problem despite the signs and warnings not to (no dogs in rmnp).
Heavenly Place in Rocky Mountains! You can park your car here and relax along the side of a small canal and enjoy the nature. Also, You will get a rest room here to dump yourself out ud83dude01.nnYou will get to see a Muse or Elk if you get lucky. ud83dude09
Trail Ridge Road is one of the greatest day trips from the Denver Metro area. Beautiful scenery, amazing views and incredible wildlife. Not to mention its the highest paved road in the Continental US.
