Silver City Museum

This is a fascinating museum! Of course, I love history so it was great to find such knowledgeable volunteers on duty. (And I was delighted when they began trying to outdo each other when I asked for recommendations on local mining history.) I ended up with a wonderful selections of books for a personal research project. This was the perfect place to end a rainy day and learn more about the Big Ditch.

The ladies here are sweethearts!! They will chat with you about the town & are happy to make suggestions about where else to visit. The gift shop is well stocked with lots of local treasures. The museum itself is small but still really interesting & the house itself is charming. No bells n whistles just an authentic look into this towns past. Beautiful exterior mosaic mural was still under construction but WOW!! The ladies said the local magnet school kids were helping with it! What a wonderful lil museum ♥ufe0f

This an interesting and well composed museum. It covers a wide section of information -- silver mining, Apache the original people, women's roles in Apache, Mexican, and white settlers, the great floods, the home's original owners, ranch life, the home's later uses, and so on. It gives great insight into the true Western experience. Great gift shop too.
