Teachers are great. The secretary is great. She goes above and beyond for the children. The vice principal here is great as well.

I just want to respond to one of the reviewers on this page who said that the school district does not care about its students or the paths they take in their lives. As someone who works for the school district I am keenly aware of the time and effort our professionals put into making sure children get the best education they can. These teachers and staff members put in many hours off the clock preparing lessons and content, as well as volunteering to head organizations and coach teams which is another, non-academic route to improve the possibilities of scholarships as well as teaching values through a team medium. Part of student success is the student's responsibility - specifically doing homework, studying for exams and tests. I can tell you I see plenty of students neglecting these duties in our district despite efforts to help them, ie: homework club, after school help/tutoring. I sympathize with younger people unable to find a path in life or a career that provides a living wage but I think it might be something where we need to look at the larger system/picture instead of blaming one school in a district.

For an older building, well maintained. Thorough crossing guard coverage for students crossing this busy road. Mind your speed, folks, just a few blocks away from SBPD, the police are always around to ensure student safety.

The gym is in good shape for being old.

I graduated from South Beloit in 2011 and I've been going to rock valley college since then and I still don't know what I want to do for a career to support myself for the rest of my life. I've been struggling with this and it is one of my biggest stresses. Now I'm still living at home, clueless as to what I want to do. South Beloit school district did not, has not and never will be the type of school to reflect on the students about what career path to take, and I feel many of my classmates have taken the same path as I have, most of them not finishing college credits. I see so many of them working at walmart, fast food chains, etc. It's very sad and I believe this school district is primarily to blame. Not many of us thought seriously of our career opportunities then which is why most of us are going nowhere now. I don't recommend this school to the parents of children who already struggle with choosing a career path.
