Worth a visit if you're in the area. Something about it gives you the feel of something quite ancient. If you come, I'd suggest planning a hike too or maybe going over to Moonville Tunnel too.

Whether you're interested in history or not, the sheer massive size of this is really cool. Learning how it came about is icing on the history cake

Quite an impressive site if you are a history buff. Be sure to read all of the signage to understand that at one time this was a much bigger structure, but time has taken all but the stone core of the furnace.nnSeveral hiking trails start here. The “named” trails look fairly difficult, but there is an unnamed (but well maintained) mostly grass trail going to the left as you face the furnace. I don’t know how far it actually goes, we were turned back by impending thunderstorms.
