The cashier refused to sell cigarettes ( I had a passport with a valid USA visa and a valid ID from my country ) to me because “The Law” doesn’t permit them to sell cigarettes to anyone who doesn’t have a New York state ID. Specifically NY.nYou can’t buy there even if you have a valid ID from another US state. ( He claims)nI have visited several states in US in the past 2 Months (including NY), and never had a problem purchasing cigarettes with a passport.nI guess it’s the store policy !
