It was a long search to find the right Temple for our family. We went to an open house and as soon as we walked in we knew we found the right place. We have been members for many years and we Love our Temple family.

A wonderful welcoming, open and loving reform Jewish congregation. Respectful to all who enter.

An institution should not be judged solely on how it treats its own paying members. Consider how well it treats people that are outside of it.nnThis synagogue/private school does not care about the quality of life in the neighborhood where it is located. There are residential homes located all around the synagogue/private school. Temple Beth Sholom has made a business decision that is detrimental to its neighbors. As the landlord, TBS is ultimately responsible for how their property is being used; TBS can not disavow any responsibility because a controversial action is being committed by one of its renters, tenants, contractors, vendors, or etc.nnMost Saturday nights, Temple Beth Sholom's ballrooms are rented out for parties to people who are not members of the institution and most often do not even live in the local area. To be very clear: Temple Beth Sholom is not conducting religious/educational services at this hour, they are engaging in commercial activity. They are paid money by non-members to host arbitrary parties. These parties are very loud and last until the early morning hours. Music and party noise can be heard on the surrounding public streets and from nearby homes. Alcoholic beverages are sometimes served at these parties as well.nnNoise complaints have been reported to the authorities, but apparently they do not care to do much because these parties continue to happen very frequently on Saturday nights while not adhering to noise shutdown rules. Everyone is encouraged to continue reporting such violations of the law to the authorities, so they can see how pervasive this excessive noise problem is in our community.nnTemple Beth Sholom shows no consideration for the community at large. This neighborhood has many elderly residents and young children. So sleep is an important basic necessity, not a luxury.nnSo before you consider having an event planner organize your party here please ask yourself these questions: Would you tolerate this quality of life issue in your own neighborhood every Saturday night? Is your temporary enjoyment worth disturbing the peace in someone else's neighborhood?nnPlease have your party at a place that is not near a residential neighborhood. If you must have your party in a residential area please obey all laws, especially noise cessation deadlines.nnI am a longtime resident of the neighborhood. This commercial activity started occurring a few years ago. The excessive noise late at night (11PM+) is of course unacceptable and must stop. I am not alone when I say that Temple Beth Sholom is not being a good neighbor, many other residents share this opinion.
