This is a small school, yet with an extraordinary community as a support system for the children. Parental engagement with the school is very high and the teaching curricula are unique. The principal is deeply caring, communicates with parents regularly, knows each student's name and greets them every morning. The teachers do not enforce homeworks, they encourage group thinking and develop their own curriculum based on student needs. It is an egalitarian setup with mutual respect, and one which provides a safe space for all. They even have excellent after-school programs (including Chess). Couldn't be happier sending my daughter there.

My daughter is in her 2nd year at Q300. My husband and I are extremely impressed with how this school is progressing. The communication from the administration/principal is open and direct, the PTA is highly involved and engaged in all aspects of the school, the teachers are well-trained, accessible, and nurturing.nnWe're excited about the extracurricular aspects offered through PTA funds - music through Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, art from Art House Astoria, chess within class curriculum as well as after school, and mindfulness classes (in kindergarten). PTA funds also provide TA's for each kindergarten and 1st grade classroom.nnInstruction in K and 1st grade is through hands on experimentation and exploration within groups as well as individually. Students are encouraged to share their work and peers provide feedback whether on a math problem solution that was utilized or a small moments writing assignment.nnWith this group of dedicated teachers, parents, and administration, undoubtedly, Q300 will continue to meet the social, emotional, and academic demands of the gifted & talented students at the school.

I can't be more appreciative my son is admitted to this school. After hearing many moms complaining about how public school teachers don't respond to your individual concerns, I've found it absolutely not true with Q300. My son's teachers are all very attentive, nurturing, and they address to my concerns within an hour if not two hours after I send them an email. They watch over my son's asthmatic needs and are in constant conversations with me in regards to his intellectual needs and progress in school. The school promotes inclusion where the kids are taught different languages to greet each other every morning, to appreciate each other's cultures and differences. Principal also greets the kids and parents at gate in the morning and at dismissal, where you can easily speak to him of any concerns or suggestions. It's a place where I feel safe to leave my son to. I am glad to see that he's academically challenged and his emotional well-beings are also taken care of.
