The rope tow is a blast which means it's far too fast for young children. Unless your child is a gymnast ninja get them at least 5 private lessons before even attempting to go up the magic carpet. He fell on that as well.nnNot much info on any ski hills websites in general, but this one should specifically address these limitations. Hill was too glazed over for my 6 yo to side step so we just left after 30 minutes of misery.nUnless you have time and money to waste I recommended starting on a smaller hill, with a slower rope, or waiting for them to be older. Seems like a great intermediate hill, just not for beginner children. My son has had 2 ski lessons previously and the 30 minutes we spent here was a disaster. We went on a weekday so seems like it would be much too crowded on weekends for younger children as well. And don't go if it's icy at all.

Not too many people know this, but everyone is allowed to visit Hyland Hills for free in the summer to practice hiking. This has helped me immensely to get in shape for hiking trips to the mountains. It does get a little busy, but never that bad. There is also a freely accessible disc golf course built into the hills as well. It did not disturb my hiking practice. I believe their dining area is also open for lunch in the summer.

Hyland is a great hill if you want to learn to ski or are looking to do some of terrain park. I have skied her for a very long time and although I prefer buck for down hill they have a much better terrain park as well as a better ski/food area. The staff here are great and I have many friends that work here.

At maybe 175ft vertical it's not huge but, it is very mellow and spread out over a wide area gives it a larger feel. Nice terrain park. Parking is a paid lot or remote free lot via shuttle bus, both are paved.

The cross country ski trails were well maintained and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I went on a Monday afternoon and it didn’t feel too busy, which was great for my novice level of classic skiing. However folks weren’t even trying to mask up when passing each other.
