The family that runs this is very nice. They really made us feel welcome. We got in really late and had to set up the tent in the dark. They came over to make sure we hadn't had any problems setting up. That definitely wasn't necessary, but it was appreciated that they cared. We will definitely be staying here again when we come this way in the future. The grounds itself are very nice and clean.

The campsites are great. They look newly cleared and leveled. The facilities are very nice and clean. But by far the best thing about this campground was the service. They went above and beyond over and over again to make sure we had the best time. We even forgot our kayak paddles and they found us a pair to use. Great campground and we will definitely be back.

I camp all over MI, IN, and MO and usually camp 35-50 nights every camping season. My friend and I decided to drive a couple hours north and try the township park nearby, however the sites there were too close together and it was too crowded for our personal tastes, so we started driving around looking at other options.nnWe usually shy away from family/private campgrounds because in my limited experience with them, they tend to have so many rules and the sites are crammed so close together that it just doesn't make it fun. I enjoy being in the woods surrounded by trees and nature, not being surrounded by my super close (often loud) neighbors.nnIf you feel the same as me, I would suggest giving the Oak Knoll Family Campground a try. All members of the family that have owned this place for the last 4 years are awesome, friendly people. The campsites are all a decent size with a nice amount of trees all around. Many sites have water and electricity, some just have electricity (20A) and some rustic sites in the back area. There are also some seasonal campsite that were well maintained. Many of the electric/water sites are right by the road, however the traffic is not heavy at all, and is pretty much non existent once it gets into the evening. The owner told me they will be installing electric at more sites in the near future (COVID delayed that project from happening last spring) Cell service (Verizon) is VERY spotty in pretty much most areas of the campground as far as data goes, public WiFi is not available to my knowledge. This was not a problem to me and if you had a cell signal booster it would probably get you decent signal because I kept getting notifications on my phone, I just didn't have enough signal to open them. I personally am fine with enjoying a few days unplugged from social media though.nnI didn't use the restrooms, however my friend did and he said they were always very clean and well maintained. The family owns 4 chickens and lets them free range around the campground. I enjoyed watching them walk around scratching in the leaves for bugs. They will gently take food from your hand if you offer it to them (please make sure it is safe, healthy food for them though, ask the owners if you have any doubt) The owners told me they eventually want to have a community garden and a few more animals that kids can interact with. There is a nice short trail in the back part of the campground that has a fun scavenger hunt for kids (and adults) If you want to kayak or use a boat, there is a public boat launch just across the street. For any other things to do in the area, just ask the owners. They are very happy to help you find fun things in the area to do.nnThere was only 1 or 2 other parties staying in the campground during the 3 nights we were here so it was extremely quiet. After labor day is always my favorite camping time of the year. I will for sure be back next year at some point. Keep up the great job that you are doing with this place!

This family owned campground is amazing. If you (hypothetically speaking of course) bring a tent you can't possibly set up solo or can't start a fire, Dave is happy to help. Awesome place to go!

Cute little campground. Super friendly staff. The little beach across the street was great for the kiddos. We will visit again!
