We stayed there for four nights, nice place, lots of shaded sites, dedicated rustic sites off the main Drive, so very private if that’s what you are seeking. Had a nice pool but did not use it. Main showers and bathroom are in very good condition, but a little distant from the farthest campsites. The owners take pride in this place and do a nightly walk-through to make sure that quiet hours are observed. Wood is available to buy and a very limited store. Overall a great place to camp out at and worth checking into.
This was our first time camping here. Overall we had a good experience. Everything was clean and the owners were great. Great location and close to the State park.nnI feel bad leaving anything less than a 5 star review for the campsite but I feel it’s important for people to know this info before booking. We stayed in lot #10 which is arguably the best spot in the campsite along with #9 due to a little bit more space, tons of trees, and quick access to the water. However, we had a really awful experience with the seasonal campers located on the lot next to us. I think they had family/friends visiting them, so maybe (hopefully) it isn’t always this way when they’re present. There were around 15+ people on the campsite from breakfast till midnight each day. Incredibly loud and inconsiderate of everyone around them. Arguing, swearing, belching loudly, shouting to each other across other sites as they were walking around, grown kids on the children’s playground acting obnoxious. I’m not sure if it’s because they are seasonal that they were able to get away with all of the ruckus (we read that this is typically a strict campground on quiet time which is why we booked here), but it was pretty ridiculous. We are really laid back and are all about having a good time. But this was something else entirely. I write all of this to say that if you’re going to book a site near the lake, ask before you book if this seasonal lot will be present when you’re trying to camp. Had we booked any more days there, we would have left early.
We love camping at Lakeview and make it a point to come up every year. The campground offers all the basic amenities you need, has an on site store and access to Lake Hamlin. Staff is friendly and helpful too. Plenty of sites for tents or trailer camping, rustic or with electric and water. Highly recommend checking them out.
Found this place when camping at the state park didn’t pan out and boy am I happy I did! It’s a nice quaint campground ran by two lovely people that literally live in the campground (I believe the main office is their house). They are so sweet and really just love every camper. They have a little shop with some essentials, they also have a bunch of board games and they lend them out for free. Wood is cheap and they give you kindling. There is a awesome lake at the back of the grounds. The rustic camp sites are large and secluded. I had such a good experience, I am going to head back two weeks after my initial stay. The price is extremely affordable as well. 10/10 would recommend to anyone wanting to camp in the Ludington area.
I live across the street and I can tell you Rules! Rules! Rules! She complained about kids playing and destroying her limbs and branches but they sure don’t trim them at all and they scratch our vehicles. “My driveway this” My Driveway that! It’s a access road first off - maintain the access road. I would never camp there! Owner apparently dislikes kids and everyone blamed my child when she only heard stories from her permanents/locals. Take yournMoney elsewhere where your kids can have fun without so many damn rules!
