I paid 28,600.00 for my water furnace 4years ago. Last weekend a circuit board malfunctioned and needed replaced. It was early saturday morning and down to 8degrees that night. All parts and labor were covered for 10 years by water furnace. Because it was a weekend and I live 25-30 minutes away, they charged me emergency rates to show up which was 400.00. They had to come back out a few days later to put the new circuit board in and then charged another 168.00 service charge. So, I paid almost 600.00 to repair my water furnace that is warrantied and only 4 years old. To say I am disappointed in my purchase is an understatement. I called after to complain afterwards and nothing was done to rectify thenSituation. My advice is call someone local and well reviewed on google. You shouldnt have to shell out 600.00 everytime a new warrantied furnace breaks. Back up your expensive products porter and heckman!

We wouldn't go anywhere else!nnWe have complete confidence that they know exactly what they are doing.nThey get it done right the first time and within a reasonable time frame.nAnd here's the added bonus....they clean up after themselves!nnWe love our Geothermal heating system.nThanks to everyone at Porter and Heckman.

I was always happy with Porter and Heckman. However, they are under new ownership and I am no longer using them. They replaced the motherboard on my geothermal unit. Shortly thereafter, I had an error code on my furnace. They came back out and found that the water loop connections were loose and were leaking (from the previous repair), charged me over $100 to tighten the connections that were left loose from their own employee. But, it gets worse, the error codes kept coming back, so I finally called another company to come fix it and they discovered that the new motherboard had not even been set-up/programmed to my system, so it was running very inefficiently and sometimes not running at all. The new company adjusted the settings on the motherboard and it has been working perfectly ever since.nnTheir employees clearly are not knowledgeable about geothermal, and their lack of expertise cost me hundreds of dollars.

From what i can tell they have no qualifying master and you need that in Michigan to hold a contractors license. You can't pull permits without a contractors license. My advice is ask these guys for there credentials before you hire them. Permits need to be pulled to protect home owners. Never pull a home owner permit for one of these generator contractors or any other contractor. If your house burns down you have no recourse!!! Beware if any body asks you to pull your own permit.
