I don't normally review trails, but this one was not quite what we expected. We went in September and a lot of the trail was very overgrown, and in parts required walking through waist-high grasses. The tunnel you go through is more of a culvert, and only about 5 feet tall, with boards over standing water. Overall there were some pretty views of the water, but if you're worried about ticks or possibly poison ivy, there are sections where you have to wade through brush and where it feels more like a deer path than a real trail.

funky trail starts out with a fun boardwalk thru the tidal marsh. HIGH TIDE MAY BE WET. TRAIL IS DRYEST 3 HOURS ON EITHER SIDE OF LOW TIDE. You will forget the car sounds of rt 1 eventually, and it seems lots of animals live here because of the underwater bounty of the Salt Bay. We saw a majestic heron. The low tunnel under rt 1 is the funkiest part :) but may be a dealbreaker for those with mobility issues. The Glidden Midden is totally amazing archaeology if you know what you're looking at.

Overgrown in a lot of areas and mostly by a busy road. I also lost my favorite sunglasses here. And the middens weren’t too exciting but maybe you have to go at low tide to see them.

The bugs were ridiculous! Bailed out to the road at the metal bridge. I'm sure would have been nice -the mosquitos. Got eaten alive in 10 min. ...WITH bug spray.
