This trail really lacks the maine water views, or a even a nice pine forest at the name implies. apart from a swampy lake full of bugs, looks like locals know its nothing special. The trail is so thin (a foot wide) you brush with bushes and grass most of the way. While short and easy, my dog got 7 ticks and she was on leash!!nnSo many better alternatives close by

Majority of ticks in all of New England reside right here in Pine Tree Preserve. Great for biking, awful for walking. Boothbay has some of the most visually beautiful preserves. This is not one...

This was listed as a newly done dual purpose hiking and mountain bike trail. But don't skip the word mountain because this isn't for the casual town bike that you might have rented in town, or a trail for the family with the three-year-old on a bike from Walmart. It's a rocky, tree limbed, dead fall tree trail, so lots of up and downs like a roller coaster. It's not paved in any way, graded or graveled. So once you get past that, then it's a beautiful path which takes you around a small lake and some woods with a short hill climb on the start and finish of the trail. I managed to get my 12 year old and myself around in a short amount of time then bike across the road to find a small pizza place to get some ice tea and chill then bike down the hill to town again. It's close to town which a plus. If you're looking for a kid bike trail, then you might have to drive out from town or use some of the other roads which are quieter.

Nice walk. Not too difficult, with enough birds and squirrels to keep you company. Just be careful about getting there. Maps/GPS directions drop you in the middle of someone's private road instead of parking area.
