A wonderful new place for us to visit in Acadia! Right near the entrance to Echo Lake, the homestead is a farm built in the mid 1800s that was donated to the park. You can walk through the house and around the grounds, and picnic outside. Outside, there are children's games and toys from the period to play with, stilts to try, clothing to try on, history and culture info, even a chance to saw logs with a handsaw. The homestead is staffed by 2 park rangers who'll answer any questions and show you how to use all the items outside. Great for all ages including young kids.

Had a blast with a 6.5 and 4.5 yr old. Enjoyed it all from the dress up, to the games and the tour of the house. Highly recommend! We spent about an HR and then saw a deer on our way out! Love it

A great glimpse into life on a Maine island in the 19th century. Lots to do and see - very kid friendly. We cut wood with a two-person saw, there were crafts and junior ranger activities, and a tour of the home.

The national park volunteer and Ranger who were working when we came to visit did a wonderful job explaining the history of the property as well as interacting with the kids!

Awesome little slice of history and the park rangers stationed there went above and beyond to make the visit enjoyable
