Active combat zones are better, the community here is horrible, and and the base is lsnt far behind. If your a new airman stationed here it will get better, make the best of it!
My daughter is stationed at Shaw, and I came to visit for 8 days. I have had no problems or issues. Everyone on base has been amazing to me. Helpful and polite. As far as Sumpter, I enjoy the town.
Terrible base, terrible leadership, terrible working conditions. Everybody stationed here is either a functioning alcoholic, considering suicide, or both. One shouldn't feel happier and more relaxed deployed to an active combat zone than working at your homestation
Shaw AFB is a shining example of why fighter pilots should not be base commanders. Similar to how Laura Ingraham told Lebron James to stick to dribbling, fighter pilots need to stick to flying.
First off...I LOVE Shaw AFB, SC! I was stationed at Shaw, when I was AD back in the 80's-90's...and I loved the base and the area!! As a matter of fact, I loved it so much, in my earlier professional career, that I put in for Shaw as a DOD gov't employee!! Like I said...I love everything about this base!! I hope to finish my professional federal career right here at Shaw AFB, SC! Go Gamecocks!!
